App development

We build apps for iOS and Android and run them after launch. Our own apps have more than 20,000 users.

What we build

We build apps that ship to the App Store and Google Play, whether the app is for your customers or for your staff. The apps are written in React Native with Expo, so iOS and Android share most of the code. That keeps the price down, and both versions get new features at the same time.

Some features need code written for one platform. The widget in QuitNic and the App Clip in Unveil are written in Swift, and we do the same when an app needs something React Native doesn't cover.

From idea to App Store

We start by working out what the first version has to include, and let the rest wait. Then we make sketches and test them with the people who will use the app before we write the code. Along the way you get test builds on your own phone, so you can see the app take shape.

We handle the submission to the App Store and Google Play, with screenshots, store text and the privacy details Apple and Google require. If the app has subscriptions or purchases, we set up the payments and the screens that sell them.

After launch

An app needs work once it's out. Apple and Google release new versions of iOS and Android every year, and some bugs only show up on certain phones. On our own apps, Sentry alerts us when something crashes and PostHog shows how the app is used. We can set that up for your app as well.

Common questions

How long does it take to build an app?

A first version usually takes two to four months, depending on scope. We started Unveil in July 2026, and by September it had paying customers in 12 countries.

Do you build for both iOS and Android?

Yes. With React Native one codebase covers both platforms. If you only need one, we can start there and add the other later.

Can you take over an app we already have?

Yes. We start by going through the code and setup and tell you what we would prioritise. Then we can run and develop the app further.

Who owns the app?

You do. The app is published on your App Store and Google Play accounts, and the code lives in a repository you own.
